Rivian - Fleet

Rivian is an American electric vehicle company that designs and builds adventure-focused trucks, SUVs, and commercial delivery vans. I designed the native mobile experiences for both fleet managers and drivers while building a unified design system that supports and scales across both apps.

Problem

Fleet operations are complex and high-stakes, yet existing tools are fragmented, reactive, and not built for electric-first vehicles. For Rivian's FleetOS, the challenge is to create a cohesive, intelligent system that unifies vehicle, driver, and energy data into clear, proactive workflows—helping fleet managers and drivers operate more efficiently, make confident decisions, and maximize the performance of an electric fleet.

Fleet Manager

Fleet managers don't just sit at a desk—they're constantly moving between offices, yards, depots, and vehicles. A mobile app gives them the ability to stay connected to operations in real time, without being tied to a desktop. Their needs typically center around speed, visibility, and control in the field.

Fleet Driver

Fleet drivers rely on a mobile app because it becomes their primary interface to the job—they're on the road, not at a desk, and need everything in one place to do their work efficiently and safely. Their needs are centered around clarity, guidance, and minimal friction.

Outcome

The result is a more seamless, connected ownership experience, where the app feels like an extension of the vehicle rather than a separate tool. This has helped reinforce Rivian's brand as a software-forward, user-centric EV company, while increasing user reliance on the app for daily vehicle management.
